Non-Executive Director
First up is Mick Thompson, joining us as Non-Executive Director with 22 years’ experience as Senior Partner at KPMG. Passionate about the North East and strengthening regional growth, Mick holds further non-executive roles at NUFC Foundation, Newcastle Building Society, Greggs Foundation Charity and Clinkards Group.
His experience and enthusiasm will help us to solidify relationships across the board, including our clients, staff and stakeholders. It’s fair to say that Mick is equally pleased with his appointment as we are:
I’m delighted to come on board with Atlas Cloud at what is a very poignant time in the company’s 10-year history. I was first drawn to the company’s ambitions of growing its North East roots and wide range of business portfolios. Cloud services are more important now than ever and we have a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the future success of the company, its people and the business it supports.

HEAD OF SALES
Coming fast on the heels of Mick’s appointment is the exuberant Paul Butterworth, filling our vital Head of Sales role. With over 25 years of experience in senior sales and development roles, Paul will play a vital part in our new customer acquisitions. Having spent 2 years as Director of Microsoft Azure Business Development, he is an ideal fit for Atlas Cloud as we establish ourselves as a leading provider of managed Microsoft Azure services, such as Azure Virtual Desktops (AVD).
Paul has a passion for cloud-based technology and his experience will be fundamental in strengthening our position as a Microsoft partner. He is delighted to be joining an organisation in Atlas Cloud that shares his enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the cloud:
Atlas Cloud has a strong ambition to not only grow, but deliver Azure-based technical services and expertise that help customers seize opportunities to create hybrid workplaces, improve productivity and drive success. Joining the company has come at a very exciting time and I look forward to drawing on my industry experience, to build valuable customer and partner relationships and support the vision for growth and development.
Paul Butterworth - Head of Sales, Atlas Cloud
The Terrific Trio
Our appointments haven’t stopped there, with heavy investment also taking place in our wider management team. Joining Mick and Paul are the vastly experienced trio of Steve Douglas as Service Excellence Manager, James Ramsey as Account Director and Lyndsey Falcus as Project Delivery Manager. With our company and the demand for secure cloud-enabled remote working growing, these roles are pivotal in helping us deliver the modern hybrid workplace experience that businesses UK-wide are calling out for.
This completes a wave of senior appointments that began with the arrival of IT industry heavyweight, Nigel Redwood, who joined us as Chairman just in April of this year. Atlas Cloud CEO, Pete Watson, could not be more thrilled with the direction the team is heading:
This year has been nothing short of unpredictable, yet our ambition to deliver best in class cloud-hosted solutions has remained the same. This has also brought some bold changes, including closing one of our two private data centres and migrating our efforts towards Microsoft Azure, so we’re extremely pleased to welcome our latest board and management team additions to help accelerate this transformation. Mick, Paul and the team share the same vision and will bring the knowledge and experience needed to advance towards our objectives for growth and stronger partnerships through a period of economic change.
Pete Watson - CEO, Atlas Cloud
