At Atlas Cloud, we are always keen to support the development of young people as they launch themselves into the working world. Last week, we gave Aaron, aged 15 from Hermitage Academy, the opportunity to work for us.
Assisting the service desk, Aaron was given a number of tasks that would be typical in an IT/programming role, like the one he desires to enter into after school. This involved setting up hardware, managing thin clients and assisting with the asset register.
When asked what was good about his work experience, Aaron said “I’ve been able to help out and to get a feel for how work will be in the future” and rated his time at work experience 5/5. He also mentioned, “I’ve learnt that not everything is straightforward and sometimes you have to ask for help, I definitely think my time with Atlas Cloud will be useful when I’m in full-time employment”.
At the end of the week, Aaron gave the Atlas Cloud team some chocolates and a thank you card with a message that read:
“Thank you for giving me the opportunities that you have. I was dreading work experience but you guys have made me never want to leave. This has been one of the best weeks of my life. I hope you take on more work experience in the future.”
Aaron was a pleasure to have as a temporary member of the team and we wish him all the best in the future.
We’re always open to take on young people with placements, work experience, grad schemes and apprenticeships. If you’re interested in a career in tech, check out our vacancies or get in contact with us. Alternatively, head here if you’re interested in our events, including hybrid working.
